Congratulations to Sinead Fagan and Nicholas Taylor who won the chance for us to enter their Comedy scripts into the BBC Saford Showcase project. A group of BBC-supplying comedy producers were asked to provide just 2 scripts from which six will be chosen to be performed in Salford and will benefit from a BBC Director and Casting expert.
We received over 50 entries whuch were assessed by a Script Editor and Reader before narrowing the choice down to six and eventually two.
Sinead's central character 'Emily Joyce' is a top professional who juggles a desire for enriching her personal life with the demands of a tough workplace. Nicholas has invented three fabulously observed 20-somethings suffering as 'the generation in pain' who have done everything asked of them but still need a job...we're thrilled to have worked with them both and wish them all the best as the BBC considers its entries.
Keep sending the scripts if you are looking to make that all important breakthrough in a very tough genre...we are looking for BBC THREE and Channel 4-skewed scripts from writers who can demonstrate an understanding of the needs of a narrative comedy, its structure and who, naturally, make us laugh.
We prefer emails but here's the address for hard copies - which cannot be returned.
